About Dana Woods

The community of Dana Woods in Dana Point, California, is considered to be one of the friendliest and safest places to raise children. The schools are represented by the excellent Capistrano Unified School District, and residents are close to many modern conveniences.

The homes in Dana Woods were built in the late 1970s and mid 1980s. Many of these houses have spectacular ocean views, and the neighborhood has intimate cul-de-sac streets. Residents enjoy low Home Owners Association dues and no Mello Roos. This community is located near the intersection of Golden Lantern and Camino Del Avion, on the Laguna Niguel border. It’s close to many services, movie theaters, swimming pools, parks, and shopping centers. And it’s only a mile and a half from the beach.

There are many water sports and wilderness trails in Dana Point, as well as plenty of opportunities to play golf or tennis. Not only does Monarch Beach Tennis Club have eight championship tennis courts, it also features a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and spa services.

Students at Dana Woods can attend public facilities like Del Obispo Elementary, or highly ranked Marco Forster Middle School. Dan Hills High School is also top notch and opened in 1972, making it one of the oldest high schools in the region. Its cross country team has won several state titles. There are also several private schools in this city, such as Broderick Montessori School, South Shores Christian Preschool and Kindergarten, and Capo Beach Christian School.

The City of Dana Point is a popular surfing destination, as it has one of only a few harbors in Orange County. This location was once a busy hide trade port in the 1830s and 1840s with ships from Mission San Juan Capistrano. The harbor offers a marina, restaurants, and boutiques. It is also where the Catalina Express arrives to transport people to and from Catalina Island.
